Storage & Handling Guide

Lyophilized (Unreconstituted) Peptides

Lyophilized peptides are freeze-dried powders with excellent long-term stability when stored correctly. Follow these guidelines to maintain compound integrity:

  • Store at -20°C or below
  • Protect from light and moisture at all times
  • Shelf life: 24+ months when stored properly
  • Keep sealed in original packaging until ready for use
  • Allow vial to reach room temperature before opening to prevent moisture condensation on the lyophilized powder

Reconstituted Peptides

Once reconstituted, peptide solutions are less stable than their lyophilized form and require careful handling:

  • Store at 2–8°C (standard laboratory refrigerator)
  • Use within 30 days of reconstitution
  • Label each vial with: compound name, concentration, date of reconstitution, and initials
  • Do not refreeze reconstituted solutions

Shipping & Receiving

Upon receiving your order:

  • Inspect packaging integrity — ensure the outer box is undamaged
  • Check that all vial seals are intact and show no signs of tampering
  • Store immediately per the guidelines above based on compound form
  • If packaging appears compromised or vial seals are broken, contact support before use

Environmental Considerations

Maintaining a controlled environment during handling is critical for preserving peptide integrity and ensuring reliable experimental outcomes:

  • Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles — aliquot reconstituted solutions when possible
  • Minimize light exposure during handling; work under subdued lighting
  • Work in a clean, temperature-controlled environment to reduce contamination risk
  • Use calibrated equipment for all volume transfers to maintain concentration accuracy

Stability Indicators

Visual inspection can help identify compromised compounds. Know what to look for in each form:

Lyophilized

Should appear as a white to off-white powder or cake. Discard if the powder appears discolored (yellow, brown, or gray) or shows signs of moisture absorption (wet, sticky, or clumped material).

Reconstituted

Solution should be clear and colorless upon proper reconstitution. Discard if the solution appears cloudy, contains visible particulate matter, or shows discoloration. These may indicate degradation, contamination, or aggregation.
